WOW! What a nice video and idea! SOLAR VILLAGE. Love the name too! I will repost this, thank you deeply for sharing this!

I have so far seen 'sacred geometry' EarthShips, but in Sweden its called Solarships
Combine these ideas with each other perhaps? : )

    Earthships 101 part I

    Earthships 101 part II
www.youtube.com/watch (Sacred Geometry note 1 min 54 sec)

    Earthship n.
    1. passive solar home made of natural and recycled materials
    2. thermal mass construction for temperature stabilization.
    3. renewable energy & integrated water systems make the Earthship an off-grid home with little to no utility bills.

    Biotecture n.
    1. the profession of designing buildings and environments with consideration for their sustainability.
    2. A combination of biology and architecture.

      Greenman 23,
      Outstanding visual display !
      I have some questions/comments etc.
I am unclear how heated oil is used to create steam.
I'd love to see one of your video displays revealing the guts of this heat exchanger.
What program/programs did you use to create this?
Don't those mirrors create a hazard for airplanes overhead?
The whole habitat construction with lifts and human services for that many people would require a tremendous amount of energy.
Have you crunched the numbers and PROVED the worthiness of this idea. I mean are you absolutely SURE it can create enough energy to be self sustaining?
Couldn't chimneys be laid on the ground in mountainous regions and course up the side of a mountain, thus employing less of a visual anomaly but with the same efficiency, less construction cost etc.
And lastly,I think the WHOLE STRUCTURE could be designed a bit more integrally with the environment(visually). I'm suggesting an ORGANIC DESIGN STYLE like Soleri.
      Overall,a great presentation,Good Work !

        Hi Stephen, trust this helps…….

        >>I am unclear how heated oil is used to create steam<<

Its very simple….. solar energy is used to heat oil which is then stored… the oil temp can be taken to several thousand degrees Celsius and then used to vaporize water (create steam)…steam technology is very simple.. heat water until it vaporizes .. this generates pressure and that pressure drives the turbine.. the principle is used to dive all steam engines including the ones that currently produce the power you are using to read this post… yes your electricity (unless your attached to a nuclear plant) is most likely generated by steam created by burning fossil fuels…

        >>I'd love to see one of your video displays revealing the guts of this heat exchanger<<
Heat exchangers are very common and very simple….. google heat exchanger and you will find more possibilities than you can shake a stick at (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_exchanger)

        >>What program/programs did you use to create this? <<
Sketchup and ms movie maker… free and standard bundle software..

        >> Don't those mirrors create a hazard for airplanes overhead? << no

        >> The whole habitat construction with lifts and human services for that many people would require a tremendous amount of energy. <<
I suppose if you currently live in a tee pee that would be a fair comment but if you live in a terrace or low rise all I’ve done is curve the terrace… if you live in a detached house then it is most likely that both in construction and use you are already using more energy per unit area than the concept building in the video.

        >>Have you crunched the numbers and PROVED the worthiness of this idea. I mean are you absolutely SURE it can create enough energy to be self sustaining? <<

The technology is over 200 years old.. the numbers have been crunched and proved consistently over that period … equally you need to bear in mind that this is a ‘concept building’ the purpose of which (as stated in the video text) is to facilitate conveying the idea.. similarly the returns are very much dependent on location… you would get far better results in Australia than say Greenland… if you want it built and can supply a location and funds.. you can have all the figures… but someone unfortunately has to pay for them.

        >>Couldn't chimneys be laid on the ground in mountainous regions and course up the side of a mountain, thus employing less of a visual anomaly but with the same efficiency, less construction cost etc. <<

You probable could but it would negate the usefulness of the flue.. if you don’t like it’s looks (and actually it is not as tall as most city high rise) and don’t want the full benefits (i.e cloud generation) then you don’t need a flue.

        >>And lastly,I think the WHOLE STRUCTURE could be designed a bit more integrally with the environment(visually). I'm suggesting an ORGANIC DESIGN STYLE like Soleri. <<

I refer you to the introduction text where I state that the purpose of the design is to facilitate conveying all the possible benefits… you don’t need the building nor do the mirrors need to make a sphere.. they could be placed at different locations at different heights on the ground or on existing buildings… what is important is that they share a focal point….

        >>Overall,a great presentation,Good Work !<<

I’m glad you like it however…. the reason for going this particular way was to try and get people to see how DFM, a modelling system based on aspects of sacred geometry can be used to design whole system projects. The solar chimney concept is nothing more than a vehicle for a modelling system that is based on ternary logic… one that mimics the universes mechanisms for creation… originally I devised the system whilst working on a means to explain soil fertility and the mechanisms that contribute to it… as a consequence I experienced a huge Kundalini awakening that caused me to abandon everything and embark on a journey… one that took me into a forbidden valley of Pakistan administered Kashmir where I learned that the modelling system was once known as the Sri Chakra of Sharda… a diagram that depicted God in creation, one that is at least 1200 years old but hasn’t been seen for over 800 years… the story is a book if your interested… www.scribd.com/doc/137828...ov-Revision

The solar village as a concept is in truth a minor aspect of what the videos are about… if you watch them all (the lesson of the lights and aum to allah) you might just be lucky and see what it is I am trying to share… sadly I cannot tell you directly… you must realize it….and when /if you do… it will change forever who you are…for you are the God-Seed and when you realize what this means.........?????????????

thought this reference might add substance to my post above....

          en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sola...ave_Desert

two large-scale, demonstration solar power towers in the desert near Barstow, CA.[5]

Solar One operated successfully from 1982 to 1988, proving that power towers work efficiently to produce utility-scale power from sunlight. The Solar One plant used water/steam as the heat-transfer fluid in the receiver; this presented several problems in terms of storage and continuous turbine operation. To address these problems, Solar One was upgraded to Solar Two, which operated from 1996 to 1999. Both systems had the capacity to produce 10 MW of power.[5]

The unique feature of Solar Two was its use of molten salt to capture and store the sun's heat. The very hot salt was stored and used when needed to produce steam to drive a turbine/generator that produces electricity. The system operated smoothly through intermittent clouds and continued generating electricity long into the night.[7]

Solar Two was decommissioned in 1999, and was converted by the University of California, Davis, into an Air Cherenkov Telescope in 2001, measuring gamma rays hitting the atmosphere.

also this was quite a nice one on the bbc
